will asphalt melt polystyrene while it sets up?

Hey I was thinking of doing a sculpture with polystyrene (lblueboard sheets laminated together) and wanted to coat it with asphalt but I got to thinking the asphalt would probably melt the foam.I read the foams melting point is 165 Degrees Fahrenheit. I could coat the piece in epoxy if that would survive the asphalt. Any advice would be much appreciated!

Molten asphalt is smoking in the heaters. This MSDS http://www.inchem.org/documents/icsc/icsc/eics0612.htm says it has a melting point from 54 to 173C. The former is below 165F (74C) but the latter is way above so survival would depend what the exact melting point of your asphalt would be. Ask your supplier or do tests or research for ways to change the melting point
