Laminate Photo

what is it called when they put objects on a table then like laminate them?
like at bars and restaurants. where they put shells or photos or coins or other objects in a table and like pour some kind of clear stuff over them ….what is this called? i wanna research how its done but i can’t think of what to type…i just keep thinking laminate…
I possess a liquid glass that I bought back in the mid-90s at a local craft store. I don’t think that the company that is named on the side of the box is still around, i.e., I couldn’t find it on the web. But what it is, is a clear, polymer liquid (made from mixing 2 bottles together) that florists use to make fake water in a clear vase. I bet someone still makes such a product and you’d find it in the floral section of Michael’s Craft Store or a similar craft supply store. This medium differs from decoupage in that you can encase 3-dimensional objects like coins or shells. I don’t think that you can do that with traditional decoupage.
P.S.–I never tried the product that I have. I thought it was cool so I bought it.
