Laminate Saw
I’m laminating some artwork to make placemats, where can I buy laminate?
The laminating machine I saw only did up to 9inches wide… that’s not big enough. Same with the self-laminating pouches (no machine needed), not big enough. I’m looking for a roll of laminate I can buy and cut to my own size ..where can I get this?
Keep in mind that most laminate is in rolls and is two pieces joined at one side so you end up with a pouch or can buy them in pouches as singles. OfficeMax has a bunch. Anyway, here’s the deal. If you want to just do a few even up to say 50 or more you might want to consider having someone do it for you. It is not expensive and you can tack that cost onto the price. But if you want to do it yourself it can get pretty pricey up front. Office Max has a couple in the $250 to $500 range which do up to 12-14″ width. Problem is they are not made to use continuously. Even though it says for work groups I know from experience if you cut costs on the unit you will pay through the nose for the working parts which do burn out with some regularity. The conductive tape is sold by the unit and goes for like $40per. It’s like the ink jet printers. They give away the printer and then soak you for the ink. Same here. Finally we ended up getting a bullet proof one but it cost in the range of $1500. So if you are doing just a few a day I recommend having Staples or OfficeMax do it for you. If you are doing 15-20 a day you might consider the $250-500 range. But if this is a biz pay the money up front and you won’t be sorry. Best of luck.
