Laminate Shelving
How can I paint over a laminated chipboard shelf?
I have some some shelving units which are pretty new but I’ve gone of the colour of them.
They are chipboard , laminated with plastic.
What type of paint should I use to paint them?
I’d like a matt black or dark navy finish.
I’m thinking that I’ll sand them with a fine paper first .
Any ideas please?

The easiest thing to do is use spray paint for plastic. Rustoleum makes a product called “Paint for Plastic” that works fairly well, and is available at most home improvement stores. They have both black and navy colors. According the the label you just need to clean the plastic really well with paint thinner, no primer is needed.
