Pulling up basement carpeting question.?

I have pulled out a piece of carpeting in my basement. It came out in one piece except it appears that the carpet pad stuck to the concrete floor. I am replacing it with wood laminate and a underlayment. Do I need to scape up the leftover padding or can I just go over it with the underlayment?

Yes you ll need to get it to a mostly smooth surface. Glue should be just “drizzled” on . It was used to hold pad in place while carpet was being laid.
