The ONLY product you can use is ‘CABINET RESCUE’,…BUT it states,”Do not use on counter tops!” It is used to paint “Formica” cabinets,plastic shower walls,ect.You are better off putting new MICA over the old.It can be done as I was in the trade for several years.You might want to consult someone who does this.It can be very tricky.This can be a do it yourself project.You can buy the Home Depot 1-2-3 book or the Lowes book.It will show you how.
I hvae maybe 25′ of laminate covered counter top to replace. The backsplash is as much as 2′ high in some areas.
I’m starting to wonder if I’ll regret trying to replace the laminate with new formica (over the old stuff). I havent worked with it before, and trying to do the back splash and the counters at the same time sounds like a disaster. I’m not even sure what it would cost yet.
